Australia to contest consolation round at Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Final
Australia will contest the consolation final of the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Final after finishing Thursday's qualifiying round in 12th position.
There were 19 nations vying for one of eight positions in the final and the Australian team of Jamie Kermond (Quite Cassini), Jess Brown (Casco), Scott Keach (Fedor) and Edwina Tops-Alexander (Heidi du Ruisseau Z) finished with on 20 penalties.
World Equestrian Games representative Kermond was first to go of the Aussies and he produced a strong clear round which he replicated in the second. He was also one of only seven riders to jump clear during the competition.
Brown incurred 20 penalties in her first round but went on to produce a strong second round only picking up one time fault. Keach had 16 penalties in the first round and a clear second round, as did Australian team captain Edwina Tops-Alexander who finished on four penalties after having one rail in the first round.
In 2014 the Aussies were runners up in the consolation round and will be looking for another strong performance in 2015.
