Australian Eventing Team 5th after Dressage
The Australian Eventing team is in fifth position going into tomorrow’s cross-country phase at the FEI World Equestrian Games at Tryon in the USA.
They trail the powerful German team. That nation’s combined Dressage score of 73.40 is the highest mark ever recorded at this stage of a FEI World Equestrian Games™ (WEG). Great Britain is 7.40 points behind in second position.
Emma McNab, who was a late call up for the Australian Team after Sam Griffiths’ withdrawal rode a great test and was the best performer of the representatives that competed today finishing on 27.0 with Fernhill Tabasco.
“I had a couple of little mistakes and on a normal day I would be disappointed but here it’s a bit different,” said McNab.
“I was really, really, happy with him he was fantastic.”
The sole female on the Australian Eventing Team said she is pleased with the start they have made.
“It’s really good start.”
Shane Rose and Virgil also took to the Dressage arena today and scored 29.4.
“I’m reasonably happy. There were a couple of things. The first change he hasn’t missed in weeks and he did today and he lost some rhythm in his 8m circles.”
“But the team is in a great position,” said Rose.
Fellow Australian Bill Levett who is competing as an individual at Tryon finished on 32.5 with Lassban Diamond Lift.
