Day one action kicks off at Sydney CDI

Competition will begin at Australia’s most prestigious dressage event today, with the start of the 2015 Sydney CDI 3*.

Horses and riders arrived from around Australia and overseas at Sydney’s Olympic Equestrian venue at Horlsey Park yesterday (Wednesday), May 6, with fitness inspections taking place for the Under 25, CDI-Y and CDI 3* events.

It’s a tense time for riders as they gear up for competition – even Australian Olympic and crowd favourite Heath Ryan admits he still gets nervous before a big test!

Heath promised he and his famous stallion, Regardez Moi, will still put on their best performance when they contest the Grand Prix at this year’s Sydney CDI. Watch the video of what Heath had to say on the Sydney CDI Facebook page

The Jilli Cobcroft Prix St Georges CDI begins in the indoor arena today at 8am, while Arena 2 will see all the action of the Cal Ref FEI Intermediate A competition CDN from 8am to 10.41am.

The Birds Equisport Prix St Georges Competition CDN begins at 8.15am in Arena 1A with the Mulawa Performance FEI 16 – 25 Intermediate II CDI from 8.39am in Arena 2A.

Round one of the HHSA NSW Young Horse Championships will take place in arenas 1A and 1B across the day.

Arena 2A will see the Trailrace Equipe Saddles Grand Prix CDN take place from 9.30am and the Shadow Trailers Grand Prix CDI from 11.20am.

Tickets are still available at the event entrance. Standing room admission applies once all available seating has been sold.

The Sydney CDI will also be live streamed on the web. Those who would like to watch all the action from the comfort of their own living room can log on via the Sydney CDI website and watch for free on Thursday, Friday and part of Saturday, and for a small fee on Saturday after 4pm.
