Equestrian Grand Final King Heath Ryan secures top position on dressage leaderboard
Three-time Equestrian Grand Final Champions Heath Ryan and Regardez Moi are on track for a fourth Grand Final victory after the pair's result of 73.775% at this year's Sydney CDI clinched top position on the leader board at the end of the five qualifying rounds.
Last weekend’s Brisbane CDI concluded the Grand Final qualifying events, Chantel Wigan and her KWPN bay gelding Ferero took out the Grand Prix Freestyle on 69.575% earning her a 6th ranking on the leader board. Second placegetters Katharine Darrell and Luxor 118 bettered her ranking to 8th place after a tidy score of 68.725%. Fridays Grand Prix winners Sue Hearn and Remmington finished in third place in the GP Freestyle with the combination just missing out on bettering their Sydney CDI score by 0.025.
Ryan and Regardez Moi have won the Equestrian Grand Final each year since its inception in 2011. The 2014 showdown is looking to be just as exciting as Ryan’s number one ranking score of 73.775% is also the combination’s personal best. Ryan also has his up and coming Utopian Cardinal, sired by Regardez Moi qualified for the Grand Final having qualified in 10th place.
The twelve best ranked combinations on the leader board will be invited to compete at the Grand Final with EA to award an additional three wild card entries to take the start list to 15.
