Hunter Doughty to Join NCAS Review Panel

Hunter Doughty will join the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme review panel, filling the position vacated by original panel member Gina Haddad - see below.

Hunter is an NCAS level 2 Coach and coach educator from Wagga Wagga, New South Wales. In addition to coaching, Hunter is a show jumping and cross country course designer and a qualified FEI Technical Delegate.

Hunter has more than 35 years of experience in the administration of events and has competed in eventing, show jumping and dressage.

Hunter has a master of science and works for the University of Wagga Wagga in its equine science division.

Hunter joins the panel which consists of:

  • Kevin Thompson, Chair, Australian Sports Commission
  • Ashley Synnott, Independent Representative, Australian Sports Commission
  • Des Hughes, Board Representative, Equestrian Australia
  • Ben Harris, National Education Manager, Equestrian Australia
  • Carolyn James, Coaching Representative, EA registered coach

NCAS Review Panel - Position Available

NCAS accredited coaches are invited to apply for a position on the NCAS review panel.

A position on the six member panel member has been made available after Gina Haddad vacated her position for personal reasons.

The Equestrian Australia board announced the review into National Coaching Accreditation Scheme in August 2013 and the review is being conducted in conjunction with the Australian Sports Commission (ASC).     

The existing panel for the review is made up of:

  • Kevin Thompson, Chair, Australian Sports Commission
  • Ashley Synnott, Independent Representative, Australian Sports Commission
  • Des Hughes, Board Representative, Equestrian Australia
  • Ben Harris, National Education Manager, Equestrian Australia
  • Carolyn James, Coaching Representative, EA registered coach

The first stage of the review calling for feedback from coaches and riders in the form of a survey was recently undertaken and the selected candidate will assist in writing the review recommendations based off these and other feedback received. The candidate will also be responsible for researching international coaching models for equestrian sports.
