It's been another fruitful weekend for event rider Bill Levett, this time at the Tattersall's International Horse Trials.
Just a week after winning Saumur CCI3*, Levett placed second in the Tattersalls CCI3* and won the CIC3*.
“The last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind, but a really nice whirlwind, an elated Levett said following the weekend.
“If someone had said my three 3* horses would have two firsts and a second before I headed to Saumur, well let’s just say I would have taken that,” he said.
Levett’s success in the CIC3* was with the 11 year old gelding Silk Stone.
The only Australian competing in the CIC3*, Levett was pleased with the confidence that his horse showed.
“I was so pleased for Silks today to get his first serious win under his belt in the CIC3*.
“He jumped a beautiful show jump round, then gave me a great ride cross country. To top it off, he actually had a fence in hand which was really pleasing,” Bill said.
In the CCI3*, Levett paired with the 9 year old gelding Improvise and was third after the dressage phase but held onto second position with a clear cross country round.
It was this horse’s first outing at CCI3* level and Levett was delighted with his efforts.
“Womble (Improvise) had one rail but really tried hard to hold onto a great placing. The show jump tracks were big and square with plenty of verticals. There were a few clears but not many, which just goes to show the quality of horse power at these types of competitions these days, I feel it is going up anyway,” he said.
