Longines FEI World Cup Jumping Final

Australian riders Edwina Tops-Alexander and Chris Chugg will both compete at the Longines FEI World Cup Jumping Final in Gothenburg, Sweden beginning on 24 March.

Podium finishes at the end of the Western European League Season at Zurich and Bordeaux has earned Tops-Alexander her start in the Final and she will compete with horses Caretina De Joter, Ego Van Orti and Vindicat W.

Chugg, who was the Australian League Series winner for 2015/16 will compete with his leading horses Cera Cassiago and Cristalline. Arriving in Europe from Australia in mid-February, Chugg has been making his final preparations at shows in Gent (Belgium) CSI2*, Dortmund (Germany) CSI3*, Herning, (Denmark) CSI3* and Borås, (Sweden) CSI3*.

“I have two very young horses for the Final, so it will be a good experience and training show but of course an important one as it gives Australian riders an entry to a fantastic five star show,” said Chugg.

“I’ve been lucky enough to win the Australian League a number of times since 1987 and I’ve gone to the World Cup Final every time I’ve won except one year when it was held in Las Vegas.

“Our World Cups in Australia have a big influence on producing our young Grand Prix horses so being able to showcase them at the Final is a big thrill.

“Rio is the ultimate plan for me and my horse so I’m looking forward to the outdoor season and the opportunity to get to some Nations Cups,” he said.

Swiss rider Steve Guerdat will be there to defend the title he won in Las Vegas in 2014. Also on the startlist are prior title winners Daniel Duesser (2014), Beezie Madden (2013) and Marcus Ehning who has won this title no less than three times (2003, 2006, 2010).
