Members' Collective Voice from the National Survey
As part of the Nationally Aligned Strategy & Structure review for Equestrian in Australia, we have conducted an online member survey.
The results of this survey can be found in this report.
We received 2,734 responses, providing a robust data sample size to develop strategic insight.
The key takeaways from the member feedback:
- 64.6% of members compete in two or more disciplines;
- 82% of respondents have taken part in the sport for 11+ years;
- The top 3 themes identified as opportunities by members were: education (supporting young riders, squads, officials, instructors and coaches); youth and grassroots (training & development); and international events (Olympic preparation and Brisbane 2032);
- Top 3 strategic priorities identified by members: 77% sustainably increase participation; 72% improve horse welfare; and 68% sustainably increase membership;
- Members want to see a collective industry approach to horse welfare (79%), safety (67%) and events & activities (49%);
- EA need to do better with member communication, transparency and working collaboratively with the states and territories and discipline committees to foster a positive culture.
These results allow us to address the strategic priorities, issues raised and further develop our nationally aligned strategy, collectively with key stakeholders.
The members’ feedback from the survey will guide the subsequent industry stakeholder interviews and workshops scheduled over the next month.
