Merry Christmas from the EADC

‘Twas the night before Christmas – well almost….

More importantly, it’s only several nights before the start of a New Year and new hope for a return to competition Australia-wide, without the restrictions and frustrations of the past 12 months.

From all of us on the committee, congratulations for maintaining the training routines and even a competition programme, depending where you’re based.

Match practice has been curtailed for many riders and officials - but the time spent honing the basics of training without the pressure of a competition timetable, may well pay dividends heading into 2022.

There’s also been movement on the EADC – after six years I’m bowing out and we welcome two new faces – Belinda Snooks from Tasmania and Alexis Helyer as the incoming Athletes Representative.

Our Athlete Reps are a roll call of our best-known riders, their experience spanning years of training and competition – and it doesn’t get higher than an Olympics.

Gill Botten rejoins and, for a skills-based committee, we now have representatives from QLD, NSW, VIC, WA and Tasmania.

Our thanks goes to the great support team behind the scenes at EA – so much for working ‘limited hours’ during COVID - sport doesn’t know ‘limited hours’!

My own thanks to my fellow committee over these past years and our sub-committees - the EADOC, our Major Events team and our Size Matters Working Party – so much experience, good humour and teamwork has delivered ‘sports sense’ in spades for you, our members.

I’ve said this before – we’re all EA – our sport is in our DNA – let’s head into the 2022 Recovery Year with renewed optimism in our future, proud of our past achievements – whether club or CDI - and with the energy to take us all the way to Brisbane 2032!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, from the EADC committee.
