Message from the EA Chair
FEI General Assembly meeting in Moscow - 16 to 19 November
As newly appointed Chair, my aim is to position EA to provide the best possible services we can for our very diverse membership.
Whether you are an aspiring Olympian, a competitive member, or a participant in our wide range of equestrian sports, EA seeks to provide safe environments and fun and fulfilling experiences.
We have a big work program ahead and the Board’s priority is to understand and address issues that are important to our members.
I am honoured to be Chair of EA, which is not a responsibility I take lightly.
I do not intend to travel internationally as Chair, however after deep consideration I have decided to accept the invitation to attend the FEI General Assembly because I feel it’s very important that we show our FEI colleagues the strength and leadership of equestrian sport in Australia.
I will be discussing with the FEI it's Veterinary Committee's review of regulations in relation to the Hendra virus and the proposed consultation process with EA.
I will be representing the views of our various sport disciplines, in response to proposed FEI rule changes and reporting outcomes to our members.
Trans-Tasman competition and equestrian sport in Oceania will also be discussed.
It will be important to share with and learn from other Federations what safety protocols they have in place.
I look forward to reporting back to you when I return.
Ricky MacMillan
Chair, Equestrian Australia
