Movement in the Committee Department at EA

It is with regret we wish farewell to Vivienne Liogas, our Committee Liaison Officer.

Vivienne was with EA since June 2017 and in that time was an integral part of the Committee department. Her diligence and dedication to her role ensured that not only that the National Discipline Committees were serviced to the best of EA’s ability, but that all FEI events in Australia complied with FEI regulations, as did all combinations entered in these events.

Vivienne proved to be a valuable team player and, on many occasions, took on tasks outside of her remit including assisting the accounts team, website updates and passport processing.

It’s an exciting time for Vivienne, being ‘head hunted’ for a job she really loves with the horse office of the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

Following Vivienne’s departure, we welcome two new faces to the EA team in the Committee Department.

Karen Myers, Committee Liaison Manger

Over the past 30 years, Karen has had experience teaching physical education and coaching gymnastics (Level 3 coaching accreditation). She has had much involvement in sports administration, having held the roles of Sports Director and High Performance Manager with Gymnastics Australia over a 12 year period. Most recently, Karen has been involved in owning and running a family business.

“I see the role of Committee Liaison Manger as both exciting, by way of returning to sports administration and also challenging, having limited equestrian experience. Growing up with horses, I attended our local riding club on a recreational and enjoyment basis.”

Bieng married, with two boys aged 9 and 11-years-old, who are cricket and basketball crazy, allows Karen very limited time for hobbies. However, she does enjoy gardening, walking the dog and spending time at her hobby farm on weekends when possible.

“I look forward to becoming a part of the equestrian community, working with the discipline committees and enjoying the journey of learning about the sport.”

Jenny Merity, Committee Liaison Officer

A familiar face in the equestrian scene, many people may already know Jenny Merity as an eventing, jumping and dressage steward. However, in her ‘everyday’ life, she also has more than 30 years of experience in both the computer industry and health administration.

“I believe that my broad range of business experience, passion and lifelong involvement in equestrian sports is a great combination to bring to my new role as the Committee Liaison Officer.

Jenny has also competed in eventing up to EvA105 so can now claim to be a 1* rider under the new classification! Married with a son who now lives in San Francisco, Jenny is hoping to save her pennies and travel a little more to see him.

“I am looking forward my new role as Committee Liaison Officer working with Karen and the rest of the Equestrian Community to develop and promote this fabulous sport.”
