New National Integrity Committee to Drive Culture and Conduct Standards

Equestrian Australia (EA) is pleased to announce the establishment of the National Integrity Committee as a proactive measure to take a lead on integrity matters for the sport. Integrity is a huge priority to ensure the culture and conduct of the people are held to the highest standards.

Consistent with the Nationally Aligned Strategic direction, the purpose of the National Integrity Committee is to play a proactive, strategic and advisory role with oversight responsibilities relating to key integrity issues for the sport and the organisation. This includes robust processes and policies for integrity in a fair and transparent manner, in addition to placing a big picture lens on emerging issues.

Together, EA and its State Branches, have an obligation to protect and maintain the integrity of Equestrian sports in Australia as well as the health, safety and wellbeing of its members. And this is something we are passionate about leading. This encompasses best practice corporate governance and child safeguarding, which we see as mandatory for sustainability.

EA CEO, Darren Gocher said, “The National Integrity committee will build on the support structures currently in place. The advisory role will cover various matters of integrity from policy to anti-doping and risk management. It will allow an independent viewpoint, strategic thinking and leadership for something we must do well to enable the sport to thrive.”

The Committee will be comprised of an EA board member, a representative for the sport disciplines, and independent experts with an understanding of equestrian.

We will be looking to call for nominations on the committee shortly.
