New Zealand to host 2016/17 Pacific League World Cup Final

Australia and New Zealand have agreed that New Zealand will be the host nation of the 2016/17 Pacific League World Cup Final.

New Zealand has not hosted the League Final since 1998. The FEI Pacific League World Cup Rules have provisions for the staging of the final to be held in New Zealand once every three years. “New Zealand is excited to be granted the rights to host the Pacific League World Cup Dressage Final for the first time since January 1998,” said Vicki Glynn, CEO of Equestrian Sports NZ.

The Final will be held within the indoor arena at the purpose built equestrian venue of Manfeild Park in Feilding (located in the North Island, not far from Palmerston North) from 2-4 February 2017.  The Final will be held in conjunction with the Bates National Championships.  

“The possibility to host the Final in NZ after nearly two decades will be a fantastic opportunity for the increasing numbers of New Zealand based Grand Prix riders to experience the thrill of competing in a FEI Pacific League World Cup Final.

“We hope that Australian riders will support the event and they will be welcomed to New Zealand for what will be a world class event,” said the Chair of the Dressage Committee, Karen Trotter.  

Chair of the Australian Dressage Committee Mary Seefried said, “New Zealand has a strong group of Grand Prix combinations at the moment and it promises to be a great event in a proven venue to showcase the sport.”
