Para-Equestrian CPEDI3* World Championships Qualifier Postponed

EA High Performance and Boneo Park have made the difficult decision to postpone the Para-Equestrian CPEDI3* competition, which was scheduled to take place at the Homes and Acreage Boneo Summer Dressage Championships 20th – 23rd January, due to challenges presented by Covid-19.

The competition, which was set to be a World Championships 2022 qualification event, will now take place at the Boneo Park Autumn Dressage Championships 10th – 13th March 2021 in Victoria.

The record number of Covid positive cases across Australia, combined with the Para-equestrian athletes varied medical conditions, means that staging the competition at this time is no longer possible.

The decision to postpone the competition was made in the best interests of the of Para-equestrian community’s health and welfare, with many Para-equestrian athletes, judges, officials and classifiers required to travel interstate for the event.

The CPEDI3* competition, as well as the FEI Para Classification Day that was planned to run concurrently with the event, will now take place in March to ensure that athletes' chances of qualifying for the World Championships are not compromised.

However, an alternative CPEDN national level Para-equestrian program (non-qualifier) will be offered to athletes who still wish to compete at the Homes and Acreage Boneo Summer Dressage Championships next week.

EA High Performance Para-Equestrian Manager, Stefanie Maraun, said:

“We all share in our athletes' disappointment that the CPEDI will not be able to proceed as scheduled due to the present Covid situation. We've been working closely with the FEI and Boneo Park to ensure that our riders can gain their World Championship qualifications as safely as possible.

“I would like to thank Fiona Selby and the team at Boneo Park for their efforts in ensuring that the qualification event can go ahead in March, and for accommodating those of our athletes who still wish to compete at the Homes and Acreage Boneo Summer Dressage Championships with a CPEDN competition.”

The CDI3* competition and all CDN classes at the Homes and Acreage Boneo Summer Dressage Championships remain unaffected and will proceed as scheduled.
