Position Available Chief Executive Officer

The position of Chief Executive Officer at Equestrian Australia is currently being recruited.

The recruitment of this position is being managed by Sportspeople International - for full details including information on how to apply please visit the Sportspeople website

Detailed description

Equestrian Australia (EA) is the peak body for the administration of Equestrian Sport in Australia. The organisation manages four Olympic / Paralympic sports and four non-Olympic equestrian sports.
The commitment to success is encouraged at every level of the sport and is reflected in world-class results. While EA has maintained its focus on high performance outcomes, in recent years it has embarked on new projects and implemented numerous strategies that aim to grow other sectors of the sport.

Headquartered on the outskirts of Sydney Olympic Park in Homebush, EA has a staff of eighteen and an annual operating budget of $6-7million.

Reporting to the EA Board, the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of this sport-business and its national programs and functions, as well as giving direction and leadership toward the achievement of commercial, strategic and operational priorities set out in the 2011-2016 Strategic Plan. In conjunction with the EA Board, the CEO will also develop and implement the 2017- 2020 Strategic Plan.

To be considered for this role you will need to be a dynamic and inspiring leader, with patience, tolerance and diplomacy, along with the ability to engage and develop positive, lasting relationships with Board members, staff, members, volunteers and key stakeholders including state branches and partners. Your commercial and financial acumen will be matched by your skill in identifying and then capitalising on opportunities, finding innovative solutions and thinking "outside the square". You will also need to demonstrate a successful track record in managing and growing like-sized businesses.

Experience in the management of a not-for-profit or large membership based organisation would be highly regarded, ideally from within an Olympic sport. An understanding and experience of equestrian sports will be an advantage but not a necessity; however you must have 'equestrian interest' and be committed to providing strong foundations for the growth of the sport.
Given the popularity and profile of Equestrian sports, this role is clearly one of the prized sport business positions in Australia.
