Saddleworld Melbourne International 3 Day Event concludes on high note

Olympic gold medallist Stuart Tinney riding the horse War Hawk (owned by Corinna and Darren Huskinson) claimed victory in the Saddleworld Melbourne International Three Day Event CCI3*, finishing the event with a brilliant clear show jumping round.

The combination was fourth after the dressage but moved into second position after producing a clear cross country round. The pair's flawless round in the show jumping meant their score of 48.30 from the dressage remained unchanged throughout the competition.

Earlier in the day Stuart's daughter Gemma won the CCI1* riding Annapurna, owned by John and Jane Pittard.

Showing an admirable bond with her father, Gemma said, “He was there with me every step of the way… it was a really good feeling.”

Stuart said, “I’m just thrilled with War Hawk, I was really pleased with how he jumped and he’s been really good… I’m really happy for the win.”

After a brilliant five days of competition, the Saddleworld Melbourne International 3 Day Event has come to a spectacular conclusion.

Around 180 competitors and over 200 horses from across the country competed in the traditional Queen’s Birthday event, which is in its 59th year.

The Olympic year has created excitement with all involved, which invited thousands of eager fans to catch a glimpse of Rio hopefuls and other emerging international contenders.
