Sit down to a lamb-roast and equestrian sport this long weekend

Highlights from Australia’s premier multidiscipline equestrian competition will air in a 90 minute EQUITANA special on Channel Nine this Sunday 27 January commencing at midday.

As well as showcasing top moments from the 2012 EQUITANA Australian Open, the program will screen highlights from the ‘Be the Influence’ Equestrian Final dressage, jumping and Exhibition Eventing competitions.

This is your chance to watch all the highlights from the event and see some of Australia’s most talented horses and riders battle it out for big prize money and top honours.

The special Wide World of Sports feature will put you in the front row as Olympians Shane Rose, Megan Jones, Stuart Tinney and Sam Griffiths go head to head in the Exhibition Eventing class. You’ll be up close as four-time Olympian Mary Hanna goes up against the defending champion in the dressage Heath Ryan and another of Australia’s experienced riders Maree Tomkinson. In the jumping you’ll see young rising star Evie Buller of Western Australia go up against the likes of Alison Rowland and Jamie Kermond.

The only annual multidiscipline event to bring together Australia’s best riders in the Olympic disciplines, the Be the Influence Equestrian Grand Final is a thrilling showcase of equestrian sport.

Equestrian Australia’s CEO Grant Baldock said the national broadcast takes equestrian sport to new heights.

“This is the second year that this event has screened to a national television audience and this exposure is a great way to introduce equestrian sport to new audiences.

“With some of the world’s top equestrian competitors and big prize money on offer the ‘Be the Influence’ Equestrian Grand Final appeals to lovers of all sporting codes.”
