Three Aussies in top 10 after Luhmuhlen Cross Country

Australian riders remain in contention at Luhmuhlen CCI4* following Saturday’s cross country with the three Rio hopefuls holding onto top ten positions with only show jumping to contest.

Seven-time Olympian Andrew Hoy and his London Olympic Games horse Rutherglen are seventh and best placed of the Aussies after a precise cross country round added just 0.8 time penalties to their overall score. They carry 49.30 penalties into the show jumping.

Emma Dougall and Belcam Bear moved from third position to eighth after having 10 time penalties in the cross country and they now have an overall score of 50.60.

Bill Levett and Alexander NJ produced the best cross country round of the Aussies and moved from 21st to ninth position after arriving home clear and within time. This pair remains on their dressage score of 52.60.

"Alex was pure class cross country, great clear and bang on optimum time" said Levett on Twitter. "Very satisfying to have produced him from a 4 year old."

Levett’s second entry Improvise had a costly runout which added 20 penalties and time to their overall score.

In the CIC3*, Andrew Hoy and Cheeky Calimbo moved down the order and will start the show jumping from 25th position after having a runout.

Kevin McNab and Step Forward are 38th in the CIC3*.
