Tom McDermott Dominates in Week One at Aquis Champions Tour

Picturesque Elysian Fields in Queensland played host to three full days of fantastic jumping for week one of the Aquis Champions Tour.

Riders from across Australia and New Zealand made the journey to one of the richest shows of the season. The fortnight long event will see more than 400 horses and riders step into the arena in a display of premier jumping.

Week one culminated with the Appliances Online Grand Prix, and it was Tom McDermott who jumped to victory aboard the Langbecker owned Alpha Activity. Tom was a force to be reckoned with also coming second on Yalambi Finnigan, owned by the Hovell family, and fourth riding his own Elegance de la Charmille.

“Im really happy with how my horses jumped, my two young horses stepped up and performed great. It was a great competition with great courses and jumping on such a great ground, I’m extremely happy to come away with the win" explained Tom of his success in week one.

Third place went to Kate Hinschen riding Finch Farm Cadel. Rounding out the top five, from across the ditch, was New Zealander Tom Tarver-Priebe riding Equifibre Popeye.

Lady Jane GHP and Olivia Hamood were the winners of the My Coolman Mini Prix, after a 23 horse jump off, she flew across the finish line in a time of 51.20, nearly 2 seconds quicker then second place.

It was Katie Laurie and McCraw MVNZ who took the win in the Sydney Horse Transport Future Stars, with 85 starters and 28 clean in the first round, the event was an impressive display of upcoming jumping talent. The second round followed with 14 clear, where Laurie set the pace and couldn’t be beaten.

Congratulations to Michelle, Peter and the entire team at Aquis Champions Tour who have put together this world-class event.

Good luck to all competitors competing in Week Two, which commences tomorrow with the Young Horse Classes.
