Young Dressage athletes success recognised
Equestrian Australia have got a fantastic depth in our Young Dressage athletes at the moment which has been highlighted recently by the recognition that a couple of our riders have received.
The Sport Australia Hall of Fame Scholarship and Mentoring Program provides invaluable financial and broader support, guidance and advice to outstanding young athletes aged 15-21 on their path to fulfilling their potential and achieving excellence on the global stage. A total of 32 athletes from 30 different sports will share $150,000 in funding, spread across three levels. Australia's Kate Kyros was selected as a Tier 3 scholarship holder.
Kate said on being selected as a 2025 Scholarship Holder “I am honoured to be a SAHOF Scholarship recipient. It is amazing to be recognised for my hard work and dedication as an equestrian athlete amongst so many other talented young sportspeople. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities that SAHOF has opened for me and look forward to connecting with other like-minded athletes. Thanks to SAHOF, together as young athletes I am sure we can continue to build the future of Australia and it’s strong sporting culture on being selected as a 2025 Scholarship Holder”
Jessica Dertell, another talented young Australian Dressage rider has progressed to one of the four finalists in the 2024 Longines FEI Rising Star Awards for a 14-21 year old who demonstrates outstanding sporting talent and commitment.
Jess, 20, has continued to build her reputation as an international Grand Prix Dressage athlete who combines skill sets across two disciplines. Voting closed on 13 October and the winners will be announced at the FEI Awards Gala presented by Longines in Abu Dhabi (UAE) on 13 November and we wish Jess the very best of luck!
