Australian World Cup Season 2016/17

The 2016/17 Australian League of the FEI World Cup Jumping Series has been announced with this year’s season offering 13 rounds, with at least one round scheduled for each mainland state.

With the Sydney Royal electing not to run a World Cup round in 2016, the Greater Western Sydney World Cup, held at the Sydney International Horse Trials from 29 April – 1 May, will host the opening round.

The season then heads to Queensland with a round scheduled for Gatton in July before it travels south for the round at Gawler in August.

Two rounds will be held in Adelaide this season – the first at the Royal Show in September before World Cup Jumping returns to the Australian International Three Day Event (3-6 November) after a very successful debut in 2015.

Western Australia also welcomes the World Cup back in 2016 with the Perth Royal Show set to play host for the second consecutive year after a six year hiatus.

In Victoria there will be rounds held at the Melbourne Royal, Shepparton, EQUITANA and Boneo which will once again host the final round of the season.

New South Wales will host the penultimate leg at the Sydney Summer Classic in December. Other NSW events include the Hawkesbury’s Showcase of Show Jumping and Tamworth CSI1*-W.

Once again the Australian League FEI World Cup leading horse and rider leaderboards will be brought to you by IRT. The season’s leading rider will be awarded $5,000 towards their horse's airfare if he/she elects to take his/her horse to the FEI World Cup Final and #FlyIRT.

At season end, the owner of the IRT leading horse will be presented with the Ted Dwyer Memorial award as well as Golden Grand trophy, donated by The Horse Magazine and in honour of the horse Golden Grand ridden by David Asimus.
