Equestrian Australia announces Para-Equestrian Selectors
Equestrian Australia today confirmed the Selectors for Para-Equestrian for 2013-2016.
EA is pleased to announce that former coach of the Australian Para-Equestrian Team, Carolyn Lieutenant will join existing Para-Equestrian selection panel members Sue Bright and Merrilyn Hamilton-Smith on the three person panel..
Carolyn fills the position made vacant by Julia Battams who was recently appointed as National Performance Director for the Dressage and Para-Equestrian High Performance Programs.
Carolyn brings over 40 years of coaching and judging experience to the panel. As coach of Australia’s team at the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games she played a pivotal role which saw members of the team win two individual gold medals and two individual bronze medals. Carolyn is a retired FEI Para-Equestrian judge and is a current EA national ‘A’ level Dressage judge, mentor and educator.
Sue Bright has been a member of the Para-Equestrian selection panel since 2008 and has served as its Chair for the last two years. Before embarking on her various judging roles in the sport, Sue competed in dressage and rode to Grand Prix Level. She is an FEI3* Para-Equestrian Judge and an EA national ‘A’ level Dressage judge, mentor and educator.
Merrilyn Hamilton-Smith has been an active member of the Victorian dressage community for 40 years. She has served on numerous Victorian club and event organising committees. Merrilyn is an FEI3* Para-Equestrian Judge (retired) and an A level Dressage judge, mentor and educator.
