VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH Kym Clark

VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH is a regular series on our website. It is a way of highlighting the tireless Equestrian Australia volunteers from across all disciplines, who help keep our sport running smoothly, all over Australia.

This month we say THANK YOU to Kym Clark, of Equestrian Northern Territory. Thanks Kym!

Kym Clark has been a long-time supporter and volunteer in the equestrian world.

For many years she was her daughter’s chief strapper for dressage and showing but recently has been able to get back in the saddle herself.

Currently, she is a member of the Darwin Dressage Club committee and has been for many years.

"Kym continually steps up to help wherever she can," shares Anne-Marie Cruickshank, NT.

"She keeps the committee on track, being the event co-ordinator on the day - making sure the judges have all they need and that riders know what is happening."

For every competition, Kym prepares all the judges folders, collates the results, makes sure the judge's boxes are in place and that there are drinks and refreshments available.

She co-ordinates all scratchings and makes sure everything is in place for presentations, all ribbons ready and test sheets ready to be picked up. She has been doing this for several years.

With her long-time friend Fiona Harburn, Kym collates the draws for the majority of the competitions - a challenging task with small numbers of riders in the higher levels, who ride multiple horses.

In addition, Kym has been Chief Steward at the ENT HOTY, as well as Marshaller ...and she has even persuaded her family to join in, her son Matthew taking on the role of Ring Master at the Royal Darwin Show.

Kym continues to be a stalwart volunteer in the equestrian world.

Thank you Kym for being a member of this wonderful army of volunteers that contribute so much to our sport.
