EA Coaching Renewal on a Roll
Coach registration opened 29 June 2020; it's great to see many of you have already jumped onto the MyEA portal and renewed.
All 2019/20 coach registrations were extended to 31 July 2020 – this included extending insurance cover for all coaches insured through the EA Coach Insurance Programme.
If you haven't already joined the rest and renewed, it’s important to do so by 31 July 2020, to ensure you remain a current registered accredited (and in most cases, insured) EA coach.
As you will see when you log onto MyEA, for 2020/21 registrations, EA is offering:
- Deferred payment options (to 30 September 2020)
- The ability to pay registration and insurance in TWO instalments (30 September 2020 and 31 Mach 2021)
- A 25% discount on registration fees if paid in a lump sum ($250 reduced to $187.50)
- Insurance offered at the same price as 2019/2020 ($470) through the EA Insurance Programme provided by Gow Gates
As in other years, all coaches who register in 2020/21 will be required to have:
- a current First Aid Certificate - HLTAID003 - Provide First Aid (valid for 3 years)
- an ASADA Level 1 Anti-Doping Certificate (no expiry) that can be completed for free via the ASADA online learning hub
- a state-based Working with Children Check/Blue Card (expiry varies between states)
- completed coaching activities in order to achieve 12 points to maintain registration (to be completed annually)
And if not purchasing EA Coaching Insurance:
- a Certificate of Currency for your insurance
What is new for 2020/21 registration:
From 2020/21, all EA coaches will be expected to attend a Coach Update or upgrade accreditation (Introductory to Level 1) every 2 years, not every 3 years as it has been in the past.
To support the transition, if you attended your last coach update in 2018, we will not require you to attend a coach update until 2021.
If you are required to attend a Coach Update in 2020, EA have developed an online Coach Update that can be accessed by completing the order form on our resources page https://www.equestrian.org.au/coaching/resources.
For those who were required to attend a SSTA/CE Update in 2020, this has been extended to 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
EA also recommends completion of the following:
- ASADA Level 2 Anti-Doping Certificate. This is an annual update on the Level 1 Certification. This will become a compulsory component for 2021/22 registration. This can be completed for free via the ASADA Online Learning Hub
- ASC Community Coaching Principles Certificate - can be completed free online via the Sport Australia Online Learning Portal (This is compulsory for new and lapsed coaches)
- Covid Safe Sport Coach Certification
What else is important to know?
- EA have launched a range of merchandise for accredited EA coaches and officials that can be accessed via the EA Online Shop. It is important to note in these uncertain times that the merchandise is being supplied by a third party and is not dependant on the stability of EA
- We have had many questions over the past 12 months regarding the EA Coaching Scheme. We've addressed some of these questions and provided you with some information about what was achieved in 2019/20, the expenditure of your registration funds and what to expect in 2020/21. The document outlines:
- 2019/20 - a year in review
- An outline of expenditure of registration funds
- 2020/21 – a year in focus
