The ‘What It Will Take to Win’ Strategic Plan is the culmination of careful research and a rigorous consultative process; which was undertaken to create a clear and comprehensive map to achieve the Program’s podium objectives at not only the Olympic and Paralympic Games, but also at the World Equestrian Games in 2022.
The strategy has been developed by identifying each of the key performance drivers specific to equestrian sport and ensuring they work with the HP athlete categorisation structure to optimise short, medium and long-term success on the world stage.
The core philosophy of a performance-driven and combination-focused approach, led by world-class management, will support the overall vision of sustained international podium success.
The voice and collaboration of the riders themselves is a crucial component in making sure the HP Program remains aligned with the needs of the athletes across all disciplines and geographical locations. The new strategic plan seeks to introduce the formation of an Athlete Commission, which will ensure greater athlete representation and best-practice governance.
EA High Performance Director, Chris Webb, describes the new strategy as a progressive and innovative approach to athlete and performance development that is capable of withstanding the challenges presented by the global pandemic.
“The new EA High Performance Strategic Plan is a reflection of the athlete centric structure of our program and the vital role that our HP team plays in supporting each athlete in their pursuit of podium success.
The plan has been developed in a holistic and consultative manner by engaging our key stakeholders; the most comprehensive approach undertaken to date. We are confident that our vision for sustained podium success will resonate with not only those directly involved with the HP program, but with all those who share our gold medal aspirations for the Australian Equestrian Team.”
