Appointed Directors - EOI Open

An exciting opportunity now exists for up to three (3) Appointed Directors to join the EA Board to supplement the skills and diversity of the current Board and help shape the future of Equestrian Sport in Australia.

The Appointed Directors will be appointed to serve either a two (2) or three (3) year initial term.

The Appointed Directors are not required to be participating members of EA, and we encourage applicants from the widest possible range of backgrounds, experience, abilities and locations to apply.

EA encourages applications from those who can bring strong governance and strategic oversight  and we are particularly interested to see applicants with high levels of skill and demonstrated experience in the following areas:

  • Stakeholder engagement, communications and change management
  • Digital transformation and technology
  • Legal, risk and compliance

Appointed Director Selection Process

EA’s Nominations Committee is formed in accordance with the EA Constitution and is made up of the following members:

  1. Ned Coten – Independent Chair
  2. Lynette Winteringham – representing EA’s National Discipline Committees
  3. Brad Frankum – representing EA’s State Branches
  4. Christie Freeman – representing EA’s Board

Applications are to be made to the Nominations Committee via [email protected] and are to be received prior to 5pm AEST Thursday 20 April 2023.

The Nominations Committee will assess applicants against the skills outlined below as per EA’s Board Skills and Diversity Matrix.

Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed by the Nominations Committee to further assess their suitability for the role, after which the Nominations Committee will recommend suitable candidates to the EA Board. The EA Board will then consider the advice received from the Nominations Committee in making its decisions about the appointment of Appointed Directors.

If appointed, applicants will be required to undergo and satisfy a number of probity checks including, but not limited to a Working with Children Check .

Board Members are not remunerated other than reimbursement of reasonable expenses, and the role requires attendance at Board meetings (currently monthly, with a mix of virtual/on-site predominantly but not exclusively in Sydney) and Board Members are expected to become a member of at least one Board Sub-Committee.

Board Members will also be expected to:

  • complete a Directors Code of Conduct;
