Tops-Alexander claims first GCT podium finish for 2013

Edwina Tops-Alexander has secured her first podium finish of the 2013 Global Champions Tour overnight with a second place finish in the Wiesbaden Grand Prix.

She and her champion gelding Itot du Chateau were one of six combinations to produce two clear rounds and only missed top position by the narrowest of margins after America's Laura Kraut and Cedric were just two tenths of a second in an all-star jump off.

Edwina's overnight result catapults her into seventh position in the race for the series title and with 10 rounds still to contest a third straight successive title is well within her sights. The fourth round of the Global Champions Tour now moves to London where it will be held in the Olympic city for the first time.

London Olympian Julia Hargreaves will also compete at the event as will Georgina Harvey who is competing in the amateur classes.

Edwina will be looking to finish higher up the order than she did at last week’s opening round in Madrid, where the five penalties that she incurred in the opening round cost her a start in the second. She finished the season opener in 26th position.

Edwina is searching for her third straight successive Global Champions Tour series victory.
