Ready Set Trot named an FEI Awards Finalist
Ready Set Trot, the junior participation program which is making it easier for more young people to have a go at equestrian sports has been named as a finalist in the prestigious FEI Awards.
Ready Set Trot is one of four finalists in the FEI Solidarity Awards, a prize that highlights the individuals and organisations who dedicate their time, skill and energy to expanding and developing equestrian sport from the grassroots up. (Read about the finalists HERE).
Beginning in 2013, Ready Set Trot is an initiative of Equestrian Australia and Pony Club Australia and aims to make horse sports more accessible to more young people. Already more than 3,000 young people have participated in Ready Set Trot programs. There is also support for the program from the broader equine industry with Standardbreds Australia Unharnessed and Riding for the Disabled Association of Australia support partners of the program.
Ready Set Trot is also supported by the Australian Sports Commission and is one of 30 junior sporting programs involved in the Sporting Schools Initiative.
Equestrian Australia CEO Grant Baldock said it was exciting that Ready Set Trot was receiving significant recognition.
"Ready Set Trot has made great progress since it launched in 2013 and we are encouraged by its achievements with already more than 3,000 young people going through the program. It is a great platform for equestrian to further increase participation rates.
"We are pleased and proud to be a finalist in this year's FEI Awards."
The FEI Awards put a spotlight on the men, women, young people and organisations that are making an outstanding contribution to the progress and excellence of equestrian sport – in or out of the arena.
Imogen Mercer, Groom of Australian Olympian and winner of Badminton 2014 Sam Griffiths, is also in the running for an FEI accolade being nominated for the Best Groom Award - MORE
And World Champion Driver Boyd Exell is nominated for the big one - Reem Acra Best Athlete. View the full list of finalists
This year's winners will be announced at a gala ceremony in San Juan, Puerto Rico on 13 November, held in conjunction with the FEI General Assembly.
