Tasmania Leads the Way on New Rules
Equestrian Tasmania begins its competition season early in the New Year and wanted to get a head start on implementing new rules.
More than 70 people attended information forums held on Wednesday and Thursday nights in Hobart and Launceston, to ensure that they were in the best position to implement the new (as of Jan 1 2020) medical service rules for Eventing Competition, updated rules regarding falls for Dressage and Jumping and to continue a consistent implementation of the Concussion Protocol for all disciplines.
An initiative of Equestrian Tasmania, the event was well supported by Pony Club Tasmania. The two organisations have an excellent working relationship and run many joint events.
Officials, organising committees and athletes had the opportunity to hear an update on recent safety initiatives from Roger Kane (Equestrian Australia National Safety Officer) and then participate in an open forum on medical rule changes, concussion policy implementation and other matters.
Members of the panel included Ian Coulson, representatives from Ambulance Tasmania and Roger Kane.
Thanks to Tim Williams and Andrea Watson and Jamie Buckby for the initiative and the organisation.
