Hazel Shannon hails from North Queensland and started riding around the age of three. Hazel's father is a serious camp drafter and is the president of the Cape York and District Australian Stock Horse Society, however it was Hazel's mum, Melanie, who migrated from England to Australia that was the influence which sparked Hazel's interest in eventing.
Hazel started seriously eventing in 2010 after she moved to Heath and Rozzie Ryan's in Newcastle to be a working pupil. Prior to this Hazel mainly competed in camp drafting and showjumping.
Hazel and WillingaPark Clifford made history in 2019 when they became the first horse/rider combination to win the CCI5*-L Australian International 3 Day Event three times.
Together Hazel and Clifford have entered Kentucky International 3 Day Event and Pau CCI5* meaning the combination have contested a total of 7 CCI5*-L events, an impressive number for any combination.
Currently Hazel based in NSW and Willinga Park.
