FEI Noseband Measuring - Commencing 1 May 2025

The implementation of FEI Nose Measuring Devices will begin on May 1, 2025.

The tightness of nosebands shall be controlled at all FEI Events by the FEI Stewards using the FEI Measuring Device. It is not the intention to check all horses but rather the device may be used to check nosebands that appear tight or a random selection of a small number of horses may be chosen.

The noseband must be fitted in such a way that the FEI Measuring Device can be inserted under the noseband, over the nasal bone, and drawn through from top to bottom. This rule applies to all types of nosebands and to both the upper and lower noseband. For more information on this including instructional videos please click HERE.

Currently, this requirement applies only to FEI events. All FEI stewards have been provided with a free device, which has already been shipped and will be available at FEI events for those who wish to check measurements. Alternatively, individuals may choose to purchase their own device.

Devices can be purchased directly from the FEI HERE or through Equestrian Australia via the form which can be downloaded HERE.
