Equestrian Australia is pleased to announce this year's Hall of Fame inductees

Now in its fourth year, the Equestrian Australia Hall of Fame pays tribute to the heroes of equestrian sport. For the first time inductees have been selected by living Hall of Fame members.

Congratulations to this year's recipients.

Individual Category - Andrew Hoy OAM

Australia’s most prolific Olympian Andrew Hoy OAM will take his place in the Equestrian Australia Hall of Fame after living Hall of Fame members unanimously voted for the seven time Olympian to receive the honour in the individual category.

Hoy has the rare distinction of competing in seven Olympic Games. From the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics to the 2012 London Games, Hoy has won three gold medals and a silver medal and is a winner of some of the world’s most prestigious three day events. Hoy has been a consistent equestrian performer in both team events and as an individual. He has one of the finest reputations when it comes to representing his country, and is considered an invaluable rider for Australia. 

Horse Category - Chichester

Although equestrian is an individual sport, the horse and rider combination are a team and the bond between the famous pairing of Kevin Bacon and Chichester is remarkable. Kevin and Chichester had an extraordinarily long partnership with the duo competing at the highest level of jumping for 12 years. 

Team category - 1964 Jumping Team

Equestrian Australia is pleased to announce that the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games Jumping Team of John Fahey, Bridget Macintyre, Kevin Bacon and travelling reserve Barry Roycroft will be inducted into the EA Hall of Fame in the team's category.

The addition of an Australian Jumping Team at the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games made this Olympiad significant for Australian equestrian sport.

 The jumping team that departed Australian shores for Tokyo consisted of Kevin Bacon with his old partner Ocean Foam, John Fahey and his brilliant little black gelding Bonvale, Bud Macintyre on the sensational Coronation and Barry Roycroft on Genoe. on the sensational Coronation. The Australians were amongst 46 riders from Britain, Italy, Korea, Argentina, Japan, USA, Mexico, France, Russia, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland and Germany.

The 1964 Jumping team was at the forefront of shaping jumping in Australia, with all team members being influential as competitors, breeders and ambassadors for many years after the Games. 

Service to Sport Category - Jim Dunn OAM and Dr Denis Goulding

Two of even ting's fondest and most respected individuals will take their place among the greats of the sport with the announcement today that Jim Dunn OAM and Dr Denis Goulding will be inducted into the Equestrian Australia Hall of Fame in the Service to Sport category.

Denis accompanied the Australian Equestrian Team to six Olympic Games. He shared a close friendship with Jim who sadly passed away in December 2013. Jim is best known as being Chef d’Equipe of the Australian Eventing Team but he left his mark on the sport also as a coach, administrator and official. 

Denis and Jim will be honoured at the Sport Achievement Awards Night on Wednesday 7 May in Sydney and all members of the equestrian community are invited to attend.
