After 11 legs the Longines Global Champions Tour is heading for one of the most knife edge finals in the history of the championship series and Australia’s Edwina Tops-Alexander is among those riders vying for top honours.

Tops-Alexander is currently third place on the leaderboard on a score of 181 points. She’s six points behind the series leader, US rider Laura Kraut who will carry 187 points into the final. In second place is Christian Ahlmann of Germany who is just two points off the pace on 185 penalties. And there’s not much breathing space for the top three with 4th placed rider Luciana Diniz sitting on 178 points.

With 40 points on offer to the winner of the series final in Doha the overall series title is still wide open. Second place will receive 37points, third will get 35 while fourth will add 33 to their overall score ensuring the race for the title will come down to the wire.

The magnificent Al Shaqab Equestrian Centre in Doha will be a fittingly dramatic stage for the climax of the 2013 season.

All season the world’s leading international rider and horse combinations have fought for supremacy from Madrid to Monaco and London to Lausanne. They have jumped by day and by night, beside the sea and in capital city centres.

The ultimate winner of the 2013 season will have proved that he or she is a true all-rounder and deserving of the championship title and the biggest slice of the final €1 million prize purse.
