Vaulting on a High in Western Australia
In Western Australia this year, Vaulting will again be included at Interschool in April. The highest level will be pre-novice.
It's safe to say last year’s inclusion of Vaulting as a “display” event was a success, as Equestrian Western Australia has seen many new vaulters keen to take up EA membership and get involved in this fun sport.
COVID and the lack of officials to run events in WA has been somewhat limiting, however, grassroots and encouragement events have been scheduled and run with great support. The HorsePower Collie Camp in the Summer holidays saw a full booking of 24 vaulters attend.
Vaulting has taken off in Pony Clubs too. Already rally dates are being requested from many clubs all over the State.
The inclusion of competition at the Active Riding Championships two years ago acted as a window to the world of Vaulting, after which many Pony Clubs have become involved. One of the great things about Vaulting is its inclusivity, as it allows younger Pony Club members to also be involved in the Championships.
